Hailing from the foothills of Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, 8 Lives Spent is a band with a wide variety of musical influences. Combine that vast collection and the result is an original rock band that blends various eras of styles into their own special sound. Hard-hitting out of the gate, the band puts its entire being into a show. Referred by many as “Southern boys with a kick-ass punch”, the crew enjoys building their material from the very roots that started it all. Raw power chords, upbeat tempos, and catchy breaks, their music attracts the blue-collar audience and that is something that they are especially proud of. The last thing that can be expected from these guys is “mainstream”. When they do include covers they are far from usual as they rip into obscure tracks from bands such as UFO, Montrose, and even vintage Cult, which gives a very good indication of their original styling. One thing is for sure, this band is not about conforming to a box.
In December of 2008 the band released its debut CD, “Self-Inflicted Wounds” engineered by Billie Spencer of Nostalgic Records. Shortly thereafter interviews ensued by local rock station WWRT who added “Distorted”, “Mucho Cervasa, and “The Drought” to their regular rotation. Soon to follow was FatCat Radio who routinely features cuts (we love ya Swede). Classic X rock radio in Cincinnati interviewed the band and featured two cuts during the band's Rezonate Music Festival appearance. In February 2009 the CD was picked up by UK's Fireworks Magazine who gave it rave revues, and in May of that same year the band was chosen to be one of the inaugurating acts for Summer Jam I featuring national recording artists LA Guns. In August of 2009 cuts from the same project were featured on the Bob Rocks show at 101.5 radio in Greencastle Pennsylvania as well as WJCU rock radio in Cleveland Ohio. Jinga Radio (an internet station with 7 million listeners) jumped on board at the same time featuring the yet to be released “Licka Sto”.
In February 2010 the band released its second recording "Outcast", and revealed the band's true identity in style. Their first release was primarily a melting pot of individual writings while "Outcast" was co-written by the entire band giving it a much edgier feel. The band will be in the studio throughout the winter and will be once again hitting the stage in spring of 2010.
